Why would someone on Microsoft Teams show “offline” one minute and then “last seen” with the grey circle and X still offline, but just has last seen info added a few minutes later. Then when I check a few minutes later, it is back to offline. Why the change? Why does it show something differently throughout the day? I am trying to figure out if this person has set their status to appear offline but is actually getting on and off and that is why the change?

Or is this just a random thing that can happen throughout the day and this person is actually offline? Please kindly check if you are missing any available updates in Teams. Lastly, If the steps above do not resolve the problem, try to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. I have checked my settings, and I have the most recent version. I also logged out and then back in and I am still having the same issue. I have a contact that has manually set his status to appear offline.

When I look at his status it will say “offline”. However, I few moments it will say “last seen on Again, both circumstances the grey box with an “X” will be present. Just trying to determine if this is just a fluke or if this is really a way to determine when someone is actually online even though they have themselves manually offline.

Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another. Any content of an adult theme or inappropriate to a community web site. Any image, link, or discussion of nudity. Any behavior that is insulting, rude, vulgar, desecrating, or showing disrespect. Any behavior that appears to violate End user license agreements, including providing product keys or links to pirated software.

Unsolicited bulk mail or bulk advertising. Any link to or advocacy of virus, spyware, malware, or phishing sites. Any other inappropriate content or behavior as defined by the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct.

Well, I fixed this problem with just three simple ways: 1) Save any unsaved work on your computer, close all the applications, and restart your. Sorry to hear that your status remains offline. Please check for available updates in Teams if there’s any. You may also sign out then sign back in.
